The penultimate weekend of the round robin stage of the 2019 Super Rugby season is upon us, and play-off spots are up for grabs.
The action kicks off on Friday morning (SAST) with the Chiefs enjoying a bye, while overall leaders the Crusaders need a solitary point in their last round robin fixture to secure a place in the next round.
It’s in New Zealand where the weekend’s fixtures get underway, with the Bulls visiting the Highlanders, who seek to avoid the wooden spoon in their conference.
Friday’s other fixture sees the Reds and the Blues square off in Brisbane.
The action resumes on Saturday with the Crusaders and the Rebels battling it out, before the Australian derby between conference leaders the Brumbies and the Waratahs.
After that, it’s off to the Highveld where the Lions host the Hurricanes at Ellis Park.
The Sunwolves are guaranteed the wooden spoon, regardless what happens in the next two weeks, and travel to Newlands to play the Stormers, who are hopeful of a playoff spot.
Another South African side within a shot at the playoffs is the Sharks, and they have the daunting task of upsetting in-form conference leaders the Jaguares on their own turf in Buenos Aires.
