Microsoft founder Bill Gates along with wife, Melinda visited Khayelitsha earlier in the work.
The billionaire couple have done extensive work, aiding South Africa in the fight against HIV/Aids through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
They made a stop at Inkanini Primary School where, according to IOL, their foundation pledged close to R77 500.
The couple also visited a créche in Site B on the day.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has provided aid to South Africa for two decades.
They first invested in the country back in 1999.
Africa has benefited from grants made by the foundation, from disease prevention to water and sanitation.
“Since making our first grants here, we have worked closely with governments, academia, the private sector, and civil society to help advance progress across the continent and share the ideas and technologies developed in Africa throughout the world,” it’s stated in the foundation’s website.
“We focus on the 10 countries where we believe we can have the greatest impact, and we partner with organizations and individuals across 45 nations.
“We support a range of programs from the international to the local level that emphasize health and nutrition; disease prevention, treatment, and research; water, sanitation, and hygiene; agriculture; financial services for the poor; and policy and advocacy.”

In Bill Gates’ personal blog, he explains how he and Melinda got into philanthropy.
“Two decades ago, we read an article about how children were dying from a preventable disease by the hundreds of thousands. And there were a lot of those articles to choose from.”

Gates’ philanthropy is also stated as one of the biggest factors that led to him relinquishing the title of the world’s richest man in 2018.
Since 1994, he has donated an estimated $35.4 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
However, according to Bloomberg, he is set to reclaim that title from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Bill Gates’ fortune is currently estimated at $107.6 billion.
